Artifact v.1
 
This was a virtual/physical mirrored installation that intended to identify a new code of communication. It was divided in two parts: a virtual blog hosted under the url hellomynameis.blog.co.uk and a physical equivalent, which was done by making blackboards and asking the general public to introduce themselves.
 
Outcome:
Realized that there wasn’t have an absolute understanding of the virtual environments or their users sense of identity. There was the notion of communication being virtual or physical and the conclusion reached was that they overlapped each other quite often, realizing that virtual communication will continue to grow because the users feel empowered. However, in virtual, the sense of self differs as you can create other appearances and assume role-play. For Harrison & Dourish (1996), ‘a virtual world… isn’t populated by virtual people but by real ones. Drawing contrasts between media and real is unhelpful, because media spaces are the real world’
